Dixie Flood of 2010

We did not know that we had a water feature in our back yard, but during the flood the stairs we built last Summer became a water fall. It hard to tell from the picture but water is pouring down the steps and into a lake that quickly formed in our backyard.

I know this pictures a little late, but they were roaming around on a camera that was MIA for a while. The flood took place the week of Dec. 22nd in St. George and surrounding areas. Houses in Beaver Dam, AZ were lost and many basements were flooded throughout the area. A few homes were in danger in our ward so Brandon spent a few days of late nights and early mornings sandbagging with the Elders Quorum and Brookside Fire Department. The homes were saved due to huge amounts of prayers and faith on the communities behalf.

Those of you who have been to our house know that we live on a fairly steep hill. So of course the water ran down our road for the 4+ days that the rain fell and made a deep (close to 1 1/2') ditch at the end of our driveway. So of course my car could not get out the drive because it would have been stuck in the hole. The boys and I either stayed home or road with Brandon in the 4-wheel drive truck. I would definitely take these trials over those who lost their homes. We all survived and hope the moisture will add to the much needed water for the Summertime.
