The weather has been nice and faily WIND FREE this week so I have been letting Jett roam outside while leaving the front door open. Even though it is nice outside it is not nice enough for Zane to be out in. Anyway we live on a fairly wooded, rural hillside and there has been a track-hoe escavating at the top of the hill for a new house to be built. Jett loves anything motorized for some reason. (you can probably tell where this is going) Once I found him on the opposite side of the house pointing up toward the tractor and said no we have to stay in the yard and brought him back to the front porch to color with sidewalk chalk and went back inside to feed Zane. A few minutes later I went to check on what Jett was doing and could not find him. Panic struck my heart as I ran from one end of the yard to the other looking for him. I checked the street first and he was not there so I went into the back yard and yelled his name really loud. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a streak of orange in the trees and sure enough it was Jett making his way up the fairly steep hill to see the track-hoe. It scared me to death, and I am pretty sure if he would not have been wearing orange I wouldn't have found him so fast. He was already halfway up the hillside so I walked with him the rest of the way to see the tractor.
The moral of the story: Do not leave child unattended outside if there is anything motorized in the vacinity.
THE END

I'm glad your scary story had a happy ending. I am still jealous that you can just send Jett outside. I just get to let Ezra play in the stairwell by himself. Not quite the same, but no tractors around either.
Or...don't leave your child unattended outside.
